  The United States Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Maryland has a mission of molding today's High School Students and Enlisted Sailors and Marines into tomorrow's Leaders, in the form of Naval and Marine Corps Officers.  A mission they have been acomplishing since 1845.

   The Naval Academy grounds (civilians would want to call it a campus) are perhaps the most attractive of all the Service Academies, but that does not explain the high competition to get an Appointment.  This past year there were approximately 16,000 applicants for roughly 1,200 openings.  Current numbers of applicants are now in excess of last year at this same time.

  Although competition is stiff, comparable to the competition to get into Harvard, the application process for the Federal Service Academies makes it among the toughest schools in the world.  And that is just to gain an Appointment. It is harder once you arrive!  Unlike Harvard, the cost will not be an issue since tuition for this (and all Service Academies) is free.  That does not mean there is not a price!

  You can EARN a place here through hard work, excellent grades and a desire to serve.  It will take dedication, starting now, careful planning and attention to detail to find yourself among tomorrows leaders. 

  Graduates can be found everywhere from the ranks of the Blue Angels, NASA Space shuttle and ISS, to the ranks of Presidents and polticians.  Where would you like to be in the future?  If you have high goals and the willingness to work to get there, the Naval Academy may be one way to turn dreams into reality!
